A destination wedding dress is a wedding dress designed to travel — built around lighter fabrics, climate-appropriate construction, and silhouettes that read well outside a cathedral. If you're getting married in Italy, Greece, Mexico, France, or anywhere your guests fly in for, this is the collection for you.
At MÝWONY, every destination wedding dress is made to your measurements, hand-stitched in our atelier, and chosen from fabrics that pack into a garment bag and recover at the other end without an emergency steamer. The dresses in this collection are the silhouettes we recommend most often for brides flying their dress to a wedding venue thousands of miles from home.
What makes a MÝWONY destination dress different
Every piece in this collection is made to order to your exact measurements. The standard timeline is 10–14 weeks from order to ship. If your destination wedding is sooner, contact us before ordering — we can sometimes accommodate a six-week express timeline for an additional fee.
Every dress is hand-stitched in our atelier in silks, soft tulles, and lightweight laces chosen for how they travel. We don't put structured organza or heavy mikado on a plane — those fabrics are for cathedrals, not Tuscany cliffs.
We ship worldwide with full duties and taxes calculated at checkout for the United States, the United Kingdom, the EU, Canada, Australia, and most of Asia. The dress arrives at your home address, not your venue — most brides take it with them in a garment bag rather than risking destination shipping.
Choosing a dress for your destination
The right destination dress is driven more by the venue's climate and surface than by silhouette preference. Beach venues favor bias slips and sheaths in silk crepe — anything in a wind handles better than a structured skirt. Vineyards and gardens take A-line silhouettes in silk chiffon. Cliff and coastal venues photograph best in ivory or ecru rather than bright white. Read our Elopement & Destination Dress Guide for venue-by-venue silhouette and fabric recommendations.
Frequently asked questions
What is a destination wedding dress?
A destination wedding dress is a wedding dress chosen and constructed to travel — built in lighter fabrics, packable silhouettes, and climate-appropriate construction. At MÝWONY, every destination dress is made to your measurements in our atelier and shipped to your home address before you travel.
Which fabrics travel best?
Silk crepe is the best traveler — mid-weight, matte, refolds without steam in most cases. Silk chiffon works well for tropical and Mediterranean climates. Lightweight lace and soft tulle pack flat. Avoid mikado, duchesse satin, heavy organza, and structured Italian taffeta — they wrinkle hard in a garment bag.
How do I pack a wedding dress on a plane?
Pack in a soft garment bag (not a stiff box), folded once at the waist with tissue between layers. Carry on if at all possible. If the dress is delicate, ask the cabin crew to hang it in the first-class closet — this almost always works on long-haul flights. Plan to arrive at your destination at least 48 hours before the ceremony so the dress has time to relax from the journey.
Can I get the dress steamed at the destination?
Most hotels and venues offer steaming. For silk crepe and silk charmeuse, a light steam is usually all that's needed. Avoid asking for a press — most hotel irons are too hot for silk. If you're unsure, we can recommend a portable hand-steamer to take with you.
How long does a MÝWONY dress take to make?
The standard timeline is 10–14 weeks from order confirmation to ship date. For destination brides, we recommend commissioning at least 14 weeks before your travel date, which gives you a clean week at home before the trip for trying the dress on.
Do you ship to the destination directly?
We can, but we don't recommend it. Customs can hold an international parcel for 1–3 weeks, which is unacceptable on a wedding timeline. We ship to your home address (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, most of Asia) and you take the dress with you. For brides without a stable home address before travel, we can hold the dress at the atelier and ship to a specified hotel concierge — contact us to set this up.
How does fit work if I can't visit your atelier?
We work with a detailed self-measurement kit and a virtual consultation. You'll receive a printable measurement guide and a video walkthrough, and one of our designers will join you on a 20-minute video call to confirm your measurements before we cut the dress. We've fitted brides in 40+ countries this way without an in-person appointment.
What is the price range for a destination wedding dress?
Our destination-appropriate dresses start at $2,400 and most fall in the $3,200–$5,500 range, depending on fabric, beadwork, and complexity. The price you see on each product page includes the made-to-measure fitting, the hand-stitched construction, and standard worldwide shipping.
Do you do beach wedding dresses?
Yes. A beach wedding dress is a destination wedding dress — the silhouettes most often chosen for a beach are slip, sheath, and lightweight A-line in silk crepe or silk chiffon. All of those silhouettes are represented in this collection.
