Article: A winter fairytale

A winter fairytale

A winter fairytale

There’s a kind of freedom that comes with choosing your own path, especially on your wedding day. For Tricia and Kelsey, that meant leaving behind the expectations of a traditional ceremony and travelling to the Western Highlands of Scotland to elope in winter.

In a landscape shaped by wind, snow, and time, they created something quietly powerful. And from the beginning, Tricia knew her dress needed to reflect that — something not just beautiful, but connected to the place, the season, and the story they were writing together.

A Dress to Match the Setting

As plans for their Highland elopement came together, Tricia knew she wanted a gown that felt dramatic and ethereal. She was looking for something that would move with the wind, echo the winter landscape, and feel like it belonged in a different time.

“We wanted an old-world feel to our day,” she said. “As if we were travelling back in time.”

The dress became a central piece of that vision.

The Moment She Found It

The bride first came across Mywony through her photographers, The Caryls Photography, who shared a list of designers during the planning process. That’s when she saw the Eir gown and everything clicked.

“As soon as I saw it, I was in love. I couldn’t stop imagining it for my wedding day.”

What stood out was the combination of detail and simplicity: long sleeves, a unique woven neckline, and a layered silk skirt that caught the wind in all the right ways. The dress didn’t just look good, it felt good, too.

Where Inspiration Came From

Tricia's inspiration came not only from the setting, but from films that captured the feeling she was after — Mary, Queen of Scots, Emma, and even The Lord of the Rings. These stories helped shape her vision for something timeless, elegant, and just a little bit otherworldly.

“Finding this dress was a major point of inspiration for all of my choices to follow,” she said.

Designed to Move

What made the gown so memorable was the way it responded to the landscape. As Tricia walked through the Highlands, the silk shifted with the breeze, occasionally revealing a soft blue underlayer beneath the ivory surface.

“The quality of the silks is so beautiful. The woven neckline was incredibly unique and helped focus attention upward.”

It allowed for simplicity elsewhere — her hair pulled back, the rest of the look pared down — a thoughtful balance of detail and ease.

A Gentle Reminder

On the day of their elopement, Tricia and her partner hiked through fresh snow for photos. At one point, she hesitated, worried about dragging the train of the dress through the snow. Her partner gently reminded her: this was exactly what they had planned.

“She reminded me to embrace the adventure,” Tricia said. “That moment really captured the balance and care we bring to each other’s lives.”

Thoughts for Future Brides

For anyone starting their search, Tricia has simple advice: follow your instincts.

“Consider the movement of the gown, the fabrics... and choose a designer who you can communicate with,” she said.

Sending her measurements across the world felt like a risk, but one that paid off.

“I’m so grateful I took the risk. Everything came together perfectly. I love this gown so very, very much.”

In Her Words

Asked to describe her Mywony dress in three words, Tricia didn’t hesitate:

“Elegant. Ethereal. Unique.”
